Choose this service if you are an adult aged 18 - 60 and you:

  •  Have not been previously diagnosed with ADHD

  •  Were previously diagnosed with ADHD but are not currently on medication or it has been >12 months since your last specialist review

  • Have been diagnosed with ADHD by a psychologist and would like to consider ADHD medication (Re-diagnosis is required to access medications).

Step 1: (45 mins) Initial Screening/Eligibility Appointment

(Explore Medical History & ADHD symptoms, Measure blood pressure/HR, weight & Height, order initial investigations if clinically indicated (blood tests, ECG, Urine Drug Screen), Determine suitability for GP-Led ADHD management, provide evidence-based ADHD assessment & family questionnaires to be completed before next appointment*)

Step 2: (1 hour) Comprehensive ADHD Diagnostic Assessment & Management Appointment

(Review of ADHD assessments & questionnaires, in-depth ADHD assessment, diagnosis made (if appropriate, Not guaranteed) or previous diagnosis re-confirmed, investigations reviewed & treatment options discussed)

Step 3: (30 mins) 4-week Treatment Review Appointment

(Review current treatment plan and response to medication and adjust as needed)

Ongoing Review: (15 - 30 mins) 1 - 3 months after Step 3, then every 3 months until treatment stabilised, then 6 monthly ongoing. Some patients may need shorter intervals if significant dose/medication changes are made.

Please note: Patients with a (relatively recent) previous adult ADHD diagnosis who are not currently on medication may, in some cases, have a shorter second appointment (Step2). Diagnosis must be confirmed by the treating GP, and requires a copy of your previous specialist diagnostic report. Please provide a copy of your report to reception prior to your first appointment.

Psychologist assessments cannot be accepted to confirm medical diagnosis & re-diagnosis is required for your ADHD GP to prescribe medication.

*Some patients with complex presentations or significant psychiatric comorbidity (for example Bipolar disorder, severe depression or drug/alcohol addiction) may not be appropriate for GP-Led care and referral to a Psychiatrist may be recommended. Please include accurate medical history on your intake form.
